milton HISTORY

  • Milton Academy was founded in 1798 with the approval of a land grant from the state of Massachusetts with the purpose of giving high quality education that common schools could not provide. While Milton opened as a coeducational college preparatory day school, the school split into two schools divided by gender (the Milton Academy Boy’s School and Girl’s School) until these schools combined to recreate the coeducational Milton Academy as it is known today.
